On Thursday 19th September, a public meeting was held at the Webster Theatre to encourage community involvement and gather ideas on how to improve Arbroath. Approximately 150 people attended.
The Arbroath Town Board took the stage to highlight the town’s strengths and areas that need attention. Topics ranged from the decline of the high street to tourism and litter issues. Attendees had the opportunity to voice their opinions during the meeting and submit suggestions via postcards.
A Chance to Shape Arbroath’s Future
With the possibility of a £20 million fund being allocated to Arbroath, residents have a unique opportunity to influence the town’s development. Every suggestion card will be carefully considered.
Key Speakers and Community Involvement
The meeting was chaired by local farmer Peter Stirling, and other speakers included MP Stephen Gethin, local councillors, and community volunteers. The event was professionally video recorded by George Park and will soon be available on social media.
A Call to Action
The public meeting was a significant step towards creating a more vibrant and prosperous Arbroath. The community’s input is invaluable to submit a 10-year vision and 3-year investment plan that reflects the community’s needs. This will be sent to the UK Government ahead of the deadline they have set – 1st November 2024.
