Welcome To Our Arbroath

Building a better, brighter future together for Arbroath

Arbroath 10 Year Vision Document

We’ve worked tirelessly to make sure all of Arbroath’s voices were heard when developing our draft regeneration plan for the town’s future. The community’s response to the final vote was fantastic – 2,593 replies. When added to all of the other engagement events we’ve held, we’ve had 5,178 people sharing their thoughts and hopes for Arbroath. This is staggering and well above the average of other towns applying for the same funding. Thank you to everyone who took part.

These results gave us a clear picture of the community’s preferences.

Based on this, we developed and submitted our formal application, setting out a draft 4-year investment plan and 10-year vision for Arbroath. Now approved by the UK Government, this has secured a total of £20 million in funding for the town.

The focus now turns to how we make delivery a reality, with projects set to be phased over the coming years to ensure lasting, meaningful impact for Arbroath. This means we keep on speaking to the people of the town, ensuring we have a clear understanding of the projects that will have lasting benefit for everyone.

At his meeting with the Arbroath Town Board, UK Government Minister Alex Norris said: “The funding is coming. Keep doing the great work that’s been taking place.”

From revitalising our high street to boosting local amenities, the investment is a major step forward in transforming Arbroath into one of Scotland’s finest seaside towns.

A Full-Breakdown of Arbroath's Regeneration Plan

May
Workshop 1

In May, we hosted our first community workshop to hear directly from the people of Arbroath  how they thought the £20 million fund should be invested. Together, we explored ideas for the town centre, harbour, Victoria Park, West Links and more, discussing everything from wellbeing and tourism to new community spaces. These sessions helped us gather a wide range of creative suggestions to shape a shared vision for Arbroath’s future.

June
Workshop 2

In June, we brought people back together to develop and refine the ideas collected in the first round. Working alongside design partners, we explored how projects such as High Street regeneration, park improvements and better town connections could look and feel. These sessions were all about turning ideas into realistic, community-driven proposals that reflect what matters most to local people.

August
Workshop 3

By August, it was time to decide which projects should take priority. Our final workshop invited everyone to review the shortlisted ideas, discuss trade-offs and rank the proposals that would shape our Investment Plan. The feedback from this session will guide how we invest the £20 million to deliver meaningful, lasting benefits for Arbroath.

September and October
The People

We know the people of Arbroath’s preferences and we’ve been putting these against a series of criteria to show deliverability, affordability, sustainability and whether it meets the needs of the town. We’re working with a cost consultant on this part of the project.

28th November
Visions

We submitted our 4 year and 10 year visions to the UK Government.

25th March 2026
Funding Approved

Four months after submission, our regeneration plan was formally approved by the UK Government, securing £20 million for the town.

Our Team

Message from the Chair

The response to the regeneration plan and all of the community engagement alongside it has been incredible. Throughout every stage of the process, our volunteer-run Town Board has worked closely with the people of Arbroath to shape ideas and priorities for the town’s future.

Our final community vote received 2,593 replies, and when combined with all of the other engagement activities held so far, over 5,000 people have now shared their thoughts and hopes for the town’s future. That’s a remarkable level of local involvement and a real sign of how much people care about Arbroath.

Every project in the submission was put there by the community, and it is that same community voice that has guided the development of the regeneration plan, which has now been formally approved. This is the moment Arbroath has been waiting for, and is a tremendous achievement, which belongs entirely to the people of Arbroath who gave their time, ideas and votes to shape this effort.

We are now moving into delivery and what that looks like across the 10 year period over which the funding is shared. We remain committed to ensuring regeneration in the town continues to be shaped by local people, and delivered in a way that makes Arbroath proud.
