Our mission is to utilise the £20 million government investment to transform Arbroath into one of Scotland’s finest seaside towns. Every resident has the opportunity to contribute and be involved in Arbroath’s successful transformation. Through collaborative partnerships with businesses, local organisations, and residents, we will create a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous town.
By enhancing Arbroath’s many inherent strengths, along with strategic investment in new facilities and infrastructure, we will position our town as a leading destination on Scotland’s east coast.

Funding
In March 2024, Arbroath was selected as part of the Government’s Pride in Place Programme. The Arbroath Town Board responded with a compelling 10-year vision and a 3-year investment plan, demonstrating exactly how the funding would benefit the town. The efforts, backed by extremely strong community engagement, secured the deal, marking a huge milestone for Arbroath’s future.
In June 2024, Angus Council appointed Peter Stirling as Chair of the newly formed Arbroath Town Board, with just four months to appoint board members and submit the full funding application.
The application was completed in time and personally handed to key decision-makers in London by Peter and Arbroath MP Stephen Gethins.
The funding has been allocated to deliver projects under three key themes: Safety and Security, Transport and Connectivity, and High Streets, Heritage, and Regeneration.
Following submission, the regeneration plan has now been formally approved by the UK Government, securing £20 million for Arbroath over the next decade.
The approved selection of initiatives reflects extensive community input, with thousands of local residents helping to shape and prioritise projects from across the town.
Funding begins from April 2026 and will be delivered in phases over a 10-year period, with the smallest amount in year one.
Projects include investment in the town centre, upgraded community facilities, improved coastal and outdoor spaces, and enhancements to the harbour and local parks.
