Arbroath Town Board Boots on the Ground: Connecting with our Community

The Arbroath Town Board members have been actively engaging with the local community in recent weeks, striving to better understand the needs and concerns of residents.

Supporting Community Initiatives

Arbroath Town Board Chair Peter Stirling has been helping at the Foodbank and also attending the Arbroath FC Community Trust Café, lending a hand to serve soup alongside the dedicated team of volunteers. The café, open Mondays and Thursdays from 11am to 1pm at Life Church, provides hot meals, drinks, and a warm and welcoming space for community members.

Town businessman and Town Board Member Nevada Mitchell spent an afternoon at the Well Bean Cafe, offering a safe, alcohol and drug free venue to meet and socialise. Health, wellbeing and recovery are promoted and there is access to self-help resources and professionals from local services.

Festive Cheer at Bield Clyde Court

Town Board member and Vice Chair of Arbroath FC Community Trust, Barry Sellars, recently visited Bield Clyde Court Sheltered Housing Association for a brilliant afternoon of conversation and camaraderie.

Spreading Joy at Lunan Court Care Home

Arbroath Town Board Member and Director of Arbroath Football Club, Brian Cargill, spent time at Lunan Court Care Home, connecting with residents and sharing stories.

Championing Important Causes

Councillor and Arbroath Town Board member Lois Speed continues her vital work with marginalised individuals and groups impacted by poverty, disability, and ill health. She has been involved with For Families By Families – supporting those who care for someone with drug and alcohol addiction. And, attended the Candlelit Vigil to honour the lives of women and girls tragically lost to gender-based violence.

Festive Events

The Town Board has been actively participating in local festive events, including the Christmas light switch-on, Christmas at the Court House, the Signal Tour Museum Festive Fayre, and the Friend’s of Arbroath Abbey Torchlight Parade. They are also looking forward to the Arbroath Market in the grounds of Arbroath Abbey this Sunday, 15th December.

By actively engaging with local organisations and individuals, the Town Board aims to build stronger relationships and contribute to a more vibrant and supportive community for all.

We are committed to gathering input from our community to ensure this project best reflects our shared values and aspirations. This consultation process is an opportunity for everyone to contribute their thoughts and ideas, and we welcome your feedback as we shape the future together.
