Following our open call for passionate, local people to help shape Arbroath’s future, Our Arbroath is pleased to welcome three new members to the volunteer Town Board.

Arthur Pritchard, former Hayshead Head Teacher, has devoted countless hours to Arbroath’s charitable sector after retiring in 2011. Manager of the Old and Abbey Foodbank, Arthur runs their Community Café twice weekly, and serves as a board member of Arbroath FC Community Trust. 

His focus as part of the Town Board is to safeguard the town’s most vulnerable residents at the heart of its future, “successful development has to consider how we ensure that those who need support feel included and valued within their community.”

Depute Head Teacher at Arbroath Academy, Gillian Alcorn was born and raised in Arbroath. She returned here to further her career in education and during her time teaching has forged meaningful links between the Academy, various local businesses and the wider community. 

A key-player in the development of the Our Arbroath Youth Town Board, Gillian’s appointment to the board will ensure the next generation has a real voice in shaping what the town becomes.

Richard Swan is the Operations Manager at Arbroath FC Community Trust, where he also serves as one of their longest volunteer coaches. Through his work developing programmes for local residents, he’s built a deep understanding of the town’s needs and opportunities.

His experience of partnership working, project development and community engagement combined with knowledge of funding and governance will place him well for turning ambition into lasting impact for the town.

Arthur, Gillian and Richard are fantastic additions to the volunteer board as we continue working towards our vision for Arbroath as one of Scotland’s finest towns. Our entire board consists of committed, impassioned members of the community, who give up their time in the hopes of making a difference for the people of Arbroath. Together, we can.
