Join the Arbroath Town Board - Help Shape the Future of Arbroath

Arbroath Town Board is expanding, and we are inviting a small number of new members to join us. We are looking for people who care deeply about Arbroath and want to play an active part in shaping the town’s future.

This is an exciting chance to join our motivated team as we drive forward the town’s vision:

Arbroath: one of Scotland’s finest seaside destinations! 

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in the following areas:

  1. Underrepresented Groups
    Groups and areas of Arbroath that are typically underrepresented, including disabled people, the LGBTQ+ community, new Scots, residents in deprived or low-income areas, young adults and older people. Experience gained through work, volunteering, or community activity / events.

 

  1. Third Sector
    Experience, participation within the third sector, such as charities, community groups, social enterprises or voluntary work.

 

  1. Town Centre Regeneration and Specialist Knowledge
    Experience in revitalising town centres and community engagement. Including improving public spaces, bringing empty buildings back into use, organising community events, supporting local businesses and the local economy. Also, those who have other specialist knowledge which can help The Town Board deliver Arbroath’s Regeneration Plan.

 

Essential Criteria

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • The ability to attend monthly board meetings, usually 6pm midweek. In addition, provide at least 12 hours a month to participate in Town Board activities between board meetings.
  • Possess a strong drive to improve the town. Must have the flexibility to attend meetings in the evenings and weekends.
  • Experience of working harmoniously in a team and developing positive partnerships.

 

Desirable Criteria

Applicants should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • Experience managing or coordinating projects, events and people
  • Some experience of community consultation and engagement
  • Some understanding of the UK Government Plan for Neighbourhoods funding initiative.
  • Have local knowledge of the Arbroath area, its many different communities, the issues they face.

 

Young Person Representative (age 16-24)

Essential Criteria

  • A passion for improving Arbroath for young people and future generations with existing connections with Arbroath youth groups, youth organisations, school committees etc.
  • Evidence of commitment or leadership, such as volunteering, youth groups, Duke of Edinburgh, or community involvement
