Arbroath Town Board is looking for passionate people to join us in delivering our vision: Arbroath – one of Scotland’s finest seaside destinations.
This is more than a voluntary committee role. It’s a chance to be part of something meaningful, driving forward real projects that benefit our community and shape the future of our town.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in three key areas:
Representing Underrepresented Communities Do you have connections with groups and areas of Arbroath that don’t always get heard? This includes disabled people, the LGBTQ+ community, new Scots, residents in deprived or low-income areas, young adults and older people.
Third Sector Experience Have you worked with charities, community groups, social enterprises or in voluntary roles? The third sector is the backbone of our community, and we need that perspective at the table.
Town Centre Regeneration & Specialist Knowledge Experience in revitalising town centres, improving public spaces, bringing empty buildings back into use, organising community events, or supporting local businesses and the economy. We’re also interested in people with other specialist knowledge that can help us deliver Arbroath’s Regeneration Plan.
Young Person Representative (Age 16-24)
We’re also recruiting a Young Person Representative to ensure the voices and needs of Arbroath’s younger generation are at the heart of what we do.
If you’re aged 16-24 with a passion for improving Arbroath for young people and future generations, we want to hear from you. Perhaps you’re involved with youth groups, youth organisations, school committees, volunteering, Duke of Edinburgh, or other community activities. Your energy, ideas and perspective are exactly what we need.
What’s Involved?
Being a Town Board member means:
- Attending monthly board meetings (usually 6pm midweek)
- Contributing around 12 hours a month to Town Board activities between meetings
- Working collaboratively with a motivated, supportive team
- Being flexible to attend meetings in the evenings and weekends when needed
You’ll need a strong drive to improve Arbroath, experience working harmoniously in teams, and the ability to develop positive partnerships.
It’s also helpful (though not essential) if you have some experience managing projects or events, community consultation and engagement, understanding of the UK Government Plan for Neighbourhoods funding, or local knowledge of Arbroath’s different communities and the issues they face.

1. A Personal Statement (max 200 words) Tell us about your relevant experience and skills, and what you’d bring to the Board. Make sure you clearly outline your commitment to Arbroath’s regeneration.
2. One Referee Provide the name and contact details of someone with standing in the community who can confirm your reliability and suitability for the role.

Applications close: 12pm, Wednesday 11th March
All applications will be reviewed by current board members and a shortlist created. Interviews will begin on Monday 16th March.
