Grace Ewing

I was appointed as Local Area Commander for Angus in August this year. I have over 21 years of police service and have worked in many roles across policing here in Tayside. I began my career in Dundee, and after promotion to Sergeant I moved to Angus, where I gained experience in Community Policing and the Community Investigation Unit.
In 2021 I was promoted to Inspector. I initially transferred back to Dundee but later returned to Angus to take on the role of Forfar Community Inspector. Most recently, I worked within our Divisional Partnerships, Interventions and Preventions Team, covering all three local authority areas. In that position I helped build strong partnerships to improve how we respond to our communities, safeguard the vulnerable and support victims.
I am also an experienced Family Liaison Co-ordinator for the Division, supporting our Family Liaison Officers who assist families bereaved by a death involving a police investigation. I’m currently undergoing training to become an Event Commander and am looking forward to being involved in a variety of forthcoming events across the Division.

Having spent a significant part of my policing career in Angus, I am extremely proud to hold the appointment as Local Area Commander. I have well-established relationships across many partnerships and see this as an excellent opportunity to continue building public confidence in policing while working alongside our partners to keep people safe. I want to commend the invaluable work police officers, staff and volunteers do every day. Their hard work and commitment make a meaningful difference and have a positive impact in our local communities, and for that I am extremely grateful. I look forward to meeting and working with everyone and to continuing to serve the local communities here in Angus.
